The Grinnall Scorpion III is a three wheeled sports car. The layout, with two wheels at the front and one at the rear offers better handling than a single front wheel layout. The Grinnall Scorpion III uses a spaceframe chassis covered by a fiberglass body.

The Grinnall Scorpion III is available with a variety of BMW K series motorbike engines including a 1200cc 16 valve 130 bhp+ unit, a 1100cc 16 valve 100 bhp+ version, a 1000cc 95 bhp+ engine, and the entry level 1000cc 8 valve 90 bhp+ model.

The sequential transmission from the bike is operated through a gear lever inside the cockpit and requires a forward or backward movement to change up or down.

The Grinnall Scorpion III features sophisticated double wishbone suspension constructed from oval tubing with inboard concentric coil springs and adjustable dampers at the front, and a BMW Para-lever (early 8-valve models use Mono-lever) unit at the rear.
