The
design and technology employed in the second generation SLK-Class
places even greater emphasis on sports performance. With a more
powerful engine, redesigned suspension, direct steering feel
and a responsive six-speed manual shift system. The SLK AMG
55's body size has grown by 2.8 inches in length and 2.5 inches
in width.
The SLK AMG 55 wears an aggressive body with multiple air intakes,
some aspects of the body look 'aftermarket' a trait not normally
assocciated with Mercedes.
A long bonnet coupled with a steeply raked windscreen and short
boot are the typical characteristics of a roadster and the SLK
AMG 55 uses these proprtions to its benefit.
The 2004 - on SLK AMG 55 uses the same distinctive arrow-like
tapering bonnet bulge seen on the Mercedes
Mclaren SLR.
