The
2010 Porsche 911 Sport Classic is a limited edition version
of the 911 restricted to just 250 examples.
The 911 Sport Classic was developed by Porsche Exclusive, Porsche's
Specialist Department who create bespoke versions of Porsche
cars going beyond what is offered by the company's regular models.
The 911 Sport Classic is easily differentiated from the standard
911 Carrera S on
which it is based due to the numerous body modifications. The
Sport Classic features a newly developed double-bubble roof,
wider rear bodywork, SportDesign front bumper, lip spoiler.
However perhaps the most obvious modification is the fixed rear
spoiler which imitates the legendary "ducktail" spoiler
from the 1973 Carrera RS 2.7.
An important feature not visible from the outside but highly
relevant in practice is the use of aluminium in the doors which,
together with other technologies, helps to off-set the extra
weight of the wide range of standard equipment.
Powering the 2010 Porsche 911 Sport Classic is a 3.8 litre flat-six
cylinder engine which
develops 408 horsepower, 23 more than the Carrera S. This boost
in power is due to a newly developed intake manifold. Maximum
torque output stands at 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) @ 4200 - 5600 rpm.
The power is delivered to the rear wheels through a six-speed
manual gearbox.
To further accentuate the sporting appearance and enhanced drivetrain,
Porsche have equipped the 911 Sport Classic with a revised suspension
system which lowers the car by 20mm (0.79") all round.
PCCB Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes complete the chassis upgrades.
The interior of the 2010 911 Sport Classic features materials
never used before. For example the centres of the sports
seats are upholstered in smooth leather strips and woven
yarn. The dashboard including a wide range of inserts and add-on
components is finished in Espresso Nature natural leather, providing
a distinctive contrast to the exclusive body paint in Sport
Classic Grey.
The three-spoke steering wheel with its hand-sewn criss-cross
seams in contrasting colour is yet another highly individual
feature on the 911 Sport Classic, as are the gearshift and handbrake
levers made of aluminium with the gearshift pattern shown in
a special colour matching the interior and the name Porsche
presented in ceramic.
