The
Shelby Series 1 was a high-performance roadster designed by
automobile legend, Carroll Shelby. It was produced at Shelby's
Las Vegas, Nevada manufacturing facility.
The Shelby Series 1 was powered by a 4.0 litre V8 engine developing
320 horsepower. This gave the Series 1 a 0-60 time of around
4.4 seconds and a 170 + mph top speed. The weight distribution
was optimally balanced 50/50 front and rear by positioning the
6-speed gearbox at the rear of the car.
The low overall weight of the Shelby Series 1 was achived with
the help of advanced materials including carbon-fibre and aluminium.
The Shelby Series 1 was first manufactured in 1998 and the production
run lasted until 2005.
