10th August 2010. Bentley have just unveiled a special edition
version of the Continental
Flying Spur for the Middle East market. Called the Continental
Flying Spur Arabia, the new model is limited to just 50 units.
Of those 50, some cars will be the higher performance Continental
Flying Spur Speed Arabia model.
The Middle East is now the source of 10 percent of all Bentley's
sales, and home to nine Bentley dealerships located in; Dubai,
Doha, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Jeddah, Riyadh and Al
Khobar.
The Bentley Continental Flying Spur Arabia is not that different
to the standard model you can buy anywhere else in the world.
For a Middle East special edition you might expect it to be
some sort of chromed out monstrosity with 24ct. gold trim and
seats upholstered in baby monkey skin.
The changes, which are all cosmetic, include new tread plates
which bear the car's name, unique wheels, 'Arabia' badges on
the front wheels arches, and ashtray lid, a bright chrome fuel
cap, and ventilated fluted seats that effectively cool and warm
the body, helping driver and passengers always to stay comfortable.
The Continental Flying Spur Arabia is also comes with an additional
valet key. This key allows the car to be started and driven,
but does not allow access to the glove box or trunk area.
Geoff Dowding, Regional Director, Asia and Middle East for Bentley
said of the car: "We have created these exclusive new
models for our Arabic customers in recognition of the growing
importance of these influential customers. Bentley has a long
and proud tradition of being able to design, engineer and personalise
our cars to the individual styling and driving tastes of our
customers and these special-edition Bentleys showcase these
skills for the Middle East Market".
Powering the Bentley Continental Flying Spur Arabia is the same
6.0 litre W12 engine found in the standard car. The 'Speed'
version of the Arabia gets the same 600 hp upgraded engine found
in the Bentley Continental Flying Spur Speed.
