50 GTA V cars and their Real World counterparts

Real life GTA V cars

Okay, this was a long time coming... An infographic showing a range of Grand Theft Auto 5 cars and their real-life counterparts.

Anyone who's played GTA V can't help but be struck by how similar most of the in-game cars look like real-world vehicles. They might have strange names - like the Benefactor Feltzer, or the Grotti Carbonizzare - but squint and they could so easily be the Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG and the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta.

This of course is by no means the first, or last, time anyone has mentioned how Rockstar has used real life cars for inspiration in the GTA series of games. Hell, even Rockstar themselves built a real-world Bravado Banshee based on a Dodge Viper and gave it away as part of a prize draw to drum up even more excitement ahead of GTA V's release in 2013.

Check out the GTA V graphic below.

I think the Gauntlet is more like a Challenger, and the Ocelot F620 is more like a Maserati too, and finally, the Benefactor Surano is more of a Merc SLS convertible. And I'm not sure I agree with the Subaru Impreza. Apart from that, I'm totally agreeing with this, but I noticed that while playing GTA V, that many of the cars seemed to be a mashup of two, like the Pegassi Vacca looks like a Gallardo mixed with an MP4-12C, so I think many of these would have made more sense if you tried comparing a mashup of two cars.

I believe, too, that the Gauntlet looks more like a challenger rather than a Camaro.

brandon
looks like a 1970 challenger to me as well

It's true most of the cars in a racing video game, more specifically arcade racers, can't get the license for real life cars because A: they're expensive and B: they ain't exactly allowed to really mess up the cars too much. So they get around it and get more freedom by replicating cars and combining aspects from different ones. Most famous in GTAV would be the gauntlet with the back of a camaro and the front of a challenger. So yeah it would need a few comparison shots of each car with each respective inspiration, but I'm thankful none-the-less that someone did this. Now if only someone could do this a for a few burnout games...

Izzy
Well in the game Bravado is Dodge. So how can you say the Bravado Buffalo is a Dodge Charger and then the Bravado Gauntlet is a Chevy Camaro. Then you got the Ocelot Jackal and F620 right which means Ocelot is Jaguar but then the Lampadati Felon is a also a Jaguar? Anyways good job, a few mistakes out of 50 is fine
