The
Buell XB9R Firebolt, like all buell's packs a few suprises.
The hollow twin-spar aluminium frame also holds the fuel, the
rear swingarm holds the oil for the dry-sump engine, the exhaust
is positioned directly under the engine, and the brakes feature
rim mounted discs at the front gripped by six-piston calipers.
The suspension is handled by fully adjustable Showa forks and
monoshock.
Power for the Buell XB9R Firebolt comes from a Harley-Davidson
based 45 degree V-Twin tuned by Buell with the addition of a
fuel injection system and large capacity airbox positioned where
the fuel tank is usually found.
All these innovations result in a low center of gravity and
a unique, aggresive style.
A short article on Buell's
radical engineering.
