The
Grinnall Scorpion IV which was revealed at the 2005 Autosport
International is a lightweight sports car made by UK-based Grinnall
Specialist Cars. The Scorpion IV is similar in appearance to
the Scorpion III, but with an extra wheel and slightly larger
dimensions.
The Scorpion IV comprises of a steel space frame chassis and
a fibreglass body. Power for the Scorpion IV comes from a Audi
sourced 1.8 litre turbocharged petrol engine running through
a 6 speed gearbox. The standard engine produces 225bhp, although
it can be tuned to provide over 300bhp.
The front suspension of the Scorpion IV is a development of
the technology used in the Scoprpion III, double wishbones made
from oval tubing with inboard coil springs over bespoke Harvey-Bailley
dampers. At the rear, long, super-stiff longitudinal links give
superb handling and camber control without compromising the
vehicle's distinctive styling.
