A band clamp is a versatile type of clamp which is used to hold pieces or components together - usually while a glue or adhesive is setting. Band clamps come in a variety of designs, but in general they use a band (obviously!), usually formed from a tough nylon material which can be wrapped around the parts which are being clamped. The band is tightened and held in place with a lever or screw mechanism to prevent the band coming loose.

Band clamps are ideal, for example, when gluing together a picture frame.
