A distributor wrench is a specially shaped wrench that allows a mechanic to reach under the distributor housing to an unbolt the hold-down bracket. The shape and size of wrench that works best will depend on the model of vehicle but the basic idea is that it allows access for loosening and tightening the clamp nut of a distributor, for example when adjusting the timing or replacing the unit.
