An emergency hammer/cutter is a specialist multi-tool device which is designed to be carried within the passenger compartment of a car - usually in the glovebox.

An emergency hammer/cutter tool has a sharp pointed hammer head at one end which is designed to smash the laminated safety glass of a vehicle to allow access if the doors are jammed or locked shut after an accident. The cutter end is designed to cut the seatbelts in order to help extraction of injured persons, or when the seatbelt release button is jammed or inaccessible.
