A Kevlar hot sleeve is made of durable, heat-resistant Kevlar that typically extends from the base of the fingers to the elbow to protect the hand and forearm from burns and cuts while working around the engine bay, exhaust, or other hot components. Typically there is a slot for the the thumb to ensure the sleeve doesn't slip. The sleeve will fit on either arm and is washable.
