A laser level is a type of measuring tool used to help define and mark a level surface over long distances. A laser level works in a manner similar to a spirit level, except whereas a spirit level can only measure a level surface over the distance of the level itself, a laser level can measure over the entire length of the laser beam.

Laser levels are frequently used in conjunction with a tripod to ensure the device is completely stable.
