A panel saw is one of the most versatile and common types of hand saw. Panel saws are primarily designed to cut wood, although they can also be used for cutting other soft to medium density materials like plastic and dense foam.

Panel saws feature a long, flat cutting blade with a row of crosscut teeth which cut on both the push and pull strokes - however they generally cut fractionally deeper on the push stroke.
