A Pickup tool is a specialized device which aids in the extraction of small parts or components which may fall deep into the engine bay or other confined areas inaccessible by hand.

There are several different types of pickup tool including magnetic, flexible and extendible.

Some types of pickup tool, like the one pictured here, have a small claw at one end which is actuated by the user at the handle. This type of pickup tool is useful for retrieving objects which are nonmagnetic and therefore irretrievable with a magnetic pickup tool.
