A re-threader is a tool, or set of tools, that replaces stripped thread on components such as worn spark plugs. A re-threader of the appropriate size accurately replaces stripped threads with new thread inserts. A typical spark plug re-threader kit includes a set of drills, taps, swedge and insert tools, steel inserts, and a vacuum adapter to remove shavings from the chamber.
