Surform rasps are sometimes used to help roughly shape compound curves when working with fiberglass or body filler prior to finishing off the desired shape with sanding.

Surform rasps come in both one and two handed designs. Pictured here is a one-handed surform rasp.

The blade of the surform rasp can be changed depending on the surface being shaped, or after the blade becomes worn or damaged.
