The Daihatsu Costa was a quirky little vehicle which was
developed by Daihatsu's UK design department.
Due to the simplistic styling and doorless layout it was
obvious from the outset that the Costa wasn't created
as a preview for a production vehicle.
Powering the Daihatsu Costa was a 0.65 litre 3-cylinder
engine. This was mated to an all-wheel-drive platform,
but considering the low ride height, the AWD system hardly
seems worth the effort.
Overall the Daihatsu Costa was a pie-in-the-sky design,
but it still retained a small sense of purpose. As a niche
vehicle for use in warmer climates the Costa would have
been perfect.
