The
Lotus Elise has firmly established itself as one of the greatest
lightweight roadsters of all time. The combination of unmistakable
styling and pin-sharp handling has created one of Lotus's greatest
success stories.
Eager to please as many punters as possible, Lotus have created
a slightly de-tuned version of the Elise 111R, the Lotus Elise
S.
Powered by a 1.8 litre VVT (Variable Valve Timing) engine from
Toyota, the Elise S reaches 60 mph in 5.8 seconds going on to
a top speed of 128 mph.
Other than a smaller power output, the Lotus Elise S comes with
all but one option from its bigger brother, a limited slip differential.
The unobtrusive ABS brakes are complimented by AP calipers at
the front and Brembo calipers at the rear, while the power is
laid down by an electronic (drive-by-wire) throttle pedal.
After the Lotus Elise S appears, the Elise 111R will be renamed
the Elise R, distinguishable from the S by 8 spoke alloy wheels
and raised LOTUS lettering on the rear.
